Instructions - WiseCMS: Adding Alt Text to an Image

It is possible to add alternative captions, also known as alt-texts, to the images on the website and articles.

What are alt texts

Alt texts are related to the accessibility and search engine optimization of the website. Their purpose is to inform and describe to the reader what the image represents. This is beneficial if the image fails to load for some reason or if the reader is using a screen reader.

Alt text is not directly visible to the visitors of the website, and it is not the same as the actual, visible caption of the image.

1. In the page editing mode, you can edit the settings of an individual image by clicking on the pencil icon in the top right corner of the image.

2. On the right side of the page, the settings for the image will open, and underneath, you will find a field for the alternative text of the image, also known as alt text.

3. Write a descriptive text in the field, explaining what the image represents. If possible, include the keyword used in the article in the alt text.

4. Click the "Save" button.

5. Publish the article as usual.

6. The alt text has now been added to the image.
