Instruction - WiseMarketing: Email Marketing Unsubscribe Groups

For every email marketing message sent through the system, an unsubscribe group must be defined.

It is advisable to create several unsubscribe groups for different segments. When a company uses multiple unsubscribe groups, recipients of messages can opt out of specific types of communications, such as promotional emails, while still receiving other communications from the company (e.g., event announcements or newsletters).

1. Email marketing unsubscribe groups are managed from the system's administration side under:

→ "Marketing"

→ "Email Marketing"

→ "Unsubscribe Groups"

A new group can be added from:

→ "Add New"

Add a new unsubscribe group from "Add new".

2. Give the new unsubscribe group a name and write a description.

Click "save" at the end.

"Set as Default Group"

  • Check this box if you want to set the unsubscribe group as the default unsubscribe group for email marketing messages.

"Set as Event Invitation Unsubscribe Group"

  • Check this box if you want to set the unsubscribe group as the default unsubscribe group for event invitations.

Give the unsubscription group a name and description.

3. Once the unsubscribe groups are created, the appropriate unsubscribe group is selected when creating a new email marketing message. This is done on the "Basic Information" tab under the section "Subscription Unsubscribe Group".

4. If a person clicks the "unsubscribe from newsletter" link in an email sent to them, the system will no longer send them emails associated with the selected unsubscribe group in the future.

5. From the "unsubscribe" link found in the sent email, the person can see the mailing list from which they have just removed themselves.

At this point, the person can also choose to unsubscribe from all communications from the company by selecting

→ "View Opt Out Preferences"

6. In the next step, they need to click:

→ "Opt Out of All Emails"

If this step is not completed, the person may still receive communications from the company if they are sent under other cancellation groups.
